COVID19 & Your Massage

We want you to know what the Coronavirus that causes COVID-19 infection means regarding your massage appointment. We also want to share our understanding about the State of Emergency and the spread of the virus, in case it helps you.

We are using this as an opportunity to assess & improve our business, starting with sanitizing protocols. Unless we are required to, we will remain open to continue providing massage services. At present, none of our staff are exhibiting symptoms or have been exposed to anyone with symptoms. We will not knowingly put any client at risk of infection.

APPOINTMENTS:
  • If you or someone you live with have a fever, cold symptoms, or a chest/sinus condition, please contact us to reschedule your appointment. There will be no cancellation fee for anyone who calls to reschedule due to illness. If you show up sick, we will charge you a cancellation fee.
  • If any of our staff have been exposed in any way to the new virus, we will let you know if it will impact your appointment.
  • For clients that want to be more conservative, we offer Thai, Sports & Orthopedic massage techniques that can be done clothed. Reiki (energy work) requires little to no physical contact.
  • Outcalls & Spa Services will not be available until further notice.
  • All appointments automatically add 30 minutes for staff to clean & changeover the rooms. We will not start appointments early or run over time, as this cuts into our cleaning time.

SANITIZING PROTOCOLS:
  • All clients get fresh linens for every massage. This means sheets, face cradle cover & blanket.
  • We wash our linens on-site. The clean laundry waiting to be folded has a separate hamper from used linens. Used hand towels have a separate bin in the bathroom.
  • We wash our hands to the elbows after each client, and sanitize every surface that we or a client touch between sessions. This includes doorknobs, light switches, chairs, sink & toilet handles, phone, computer, desk, pens, EVERYTHING.
  • When you arrive, please wash your hands in the office bathroom after you hang your coat.
  • We currently use Citrus II® Hospital Germicidal Deodorizing Cleaner as our primary cleaning product. We keep Lysol or Clorox wipes in each massage room. Hand sanitizer is location throughout our facility.

WHAT THIS VIRUS MEANS:
This virus is novel--this means that NO ONE who has not yet recovered from it has any natural immunity to the virus. Most of us have robust immune systems, and will clear the infection on our own in 10-14 days. But many of us don't have strong natural immunity: seniors, people with chronic diseases (like diabetes or liver disease), pregnant women, and people taking steroids or chemotherapies.
This virus is very VIRULENT--meaning it takes a tiny dose of the virus to become infected. That means that eventually EVERYONE will be exposed to it. Though most of us will get mildly sick a while and recover, and some may not show many symptoms at all, people with immune systems that are weakened will likely need medical care in a hospital.

THIS IS THE REASON THAT WE ARE TAKING SO MANY PRECAUTIONS TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS.

We are in the middle of a serious flu season that has our hospital Intensive Care Units already working close to the max. The capacity is not there to handle a massive number of patients with the new virus all at once. The best way to make sure that our doctors and nurses and hospitals remain available to those who need them, and able to function well, is to PROTECT EACH OTHER. It is up to us to slow the rate of infection by taking all of the precautions seriously. That means thinking carefully about every visit, every crowd, every restaurant, every trip we make. Wash hands, use thin cotton gloves when you have to touch door handles and touch screens or restrooms in public, then launder those in hot water.
This is a great opportunity to educate our kids about how diseases emerge and spread, and how we can do our part to limit the speed of the spread. Children have little to fear from the virus--let's all agree not to frighten them by our talk and our behavior. let's just be considerate of the whole community as we teach the kids to do the same. We don't need to be afraid, we need to be careful. We are strong when we hang together!

Thanks for reading this far. Your health is important to us. We are thankful for all of you.

Sincerely,

The OM Team
