Kinesiotaping
What Is It?
Kinesiotaping uses elastic therapeutic tape to support and stabilize muscles and joints without restricting movement. This technique can help reduce pain, improve circulation, and prevent further injury.
Benefits
Ideal for athletes, individuals recovering from injury, or anyone with chronic pain, kinesiotaping provides targeted support that aids in recovery and enhances mobility.
What to Expect
Kinesiotaping can be scheduled as a standalone 15-minute appointment or as an add-on to a target-area massage. When combined with a massage, the taping session will reduce the massage time to allow for application. For standalone appointments, clients should dress in clothing that allows easy access to the target area.
Clients will need to shave the target area prior to being taped to allow the tape to adhere properly. The practitioner will clean the area with an alcohol spray before applying the tape. (For your comfort, we recommend that you shave the day before to avoid skin irritation from both the alcohol cleaning solution and the tape’s adhesive.)
For areas that the client can reasonably reach themselves, the practitioner may show you how to re-tape the area. Alternatively, you can schedule additional taping sessions as needed.
Clients should leave the tape on for 3-5 days, after which it can be gently rolled off in the shower. It’s recommended to allow the skin to breathe and rest before reapplying the tape.
When Kinesiotaping Is Not Recommended
We do not provide kinesiotaping for clients with the following conditions:
