Oncology Massage & Supportive Care

Oncology massage is a gentle, compassionate approach to bodywork designed specifically for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment, in recovery, or living with a history of cancer.

At Oasis Massage, care is always centered on comfort, safety, and respect for your current medical status. Sessions are adapted based on diagnosis, treatment stage, energy level, and sensitivity. This work is focused on:
  • reducing stress and anxiety
  • supporting comfort during treatment
  • easing muscle tension
  • improving relaxation and sleep
  • providing compassionate, non-invasive touch
  • supporting overall quality of life

Oncology massage is never a one-size-fits-all treatment. It is carefully adjusted for each individual.

How Oncology Massage Works with Cape Wellness Collaborative (CWC)
We are proud to partner with the Cape Wellness Collaborative (CWC) to help make oncology massage more accessible to cancer patients and their caregivers on Cape Cod and surrounding communities.

Cape Wellness Collaborative provides wellness funding for eligible clients to access supportive services, including oncology massage, at participating providers like Oasis Massage.

What to Expect During an Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is always tailored to your:
  • diagnosis and treatment history
  • current energy level
  • medical restrictions or precautions
  • comfort and sensitivity levels

Sessions use gentle, adaptive techniques designed to support relaxation and safety. Pressure may be very light and is always guided by your feedback.

Communication is an essential part of care—we encourage you to share how you are feeling before, during, and after your session.

Timing is also important. We recommend coordinating with your medical team to determine the best time in your treatment cycle for bodywork.

Benefits of Oncology Massage
Oncology massage may help:
  • reduce pain and discomfort
  • decrease stress and anxiety
  • improve sleep quality
  • support relaxation and emotional well-being
  • ease muscle tension from treatment positioning
  • support overall comfort during cancer care

Massage is not a treatment for cancer itself, but it can be a meaningful supportive therapy during and after medical treatment.

Support for Caregivers
Caregivers are also eligible for services through the Cape Wellness Collaborative. If you are supporting a loved one through cancer treatment, oncology massage can provide an important opportunity to:
  • reduce stress
  • restore energy
  • support emotional resilience
  • improve physical tension from caregiving demands

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is oncology massage safe during chemotherapy or radiation?
Yes, when appropriately timed and adjusted. Sessions are customized based on your treatment phase, lab values, and medical guidance.
  • Will pressure be deep?
No. Oncology massage typically uses gentle to moderate pressure depending on your comfort and clinical status.
  • Can massage help side effects of cancer treatment?
Many clients find massage helpful for relaxation, stress reduction, sleep support, and muscle tension related to treatment positioning or fatigue.

What to Book
Book a New Client Intake & Consultation and pair it with one of the following services based on your energy level, treatment stage, and comfort:
  • Oncology Massage (30, 60, or 90 minutes)
  • 60-minute Oncology Massage (standard starting option for full intake and treatment support)
  • 30-minute Reflexology (gentle, non-invasive option for relaxation and nervous system support)

For most clients, the 60-minute Oncology Massage is the standard starting point. This allows time for a full intake, symptom review, and a gentle, fully customized session based on your current energy level, treatment status, and clinical considerations.

The 30-minute Reflexology session may be a supportive option for clients who prefer a non-bodywork approach, have higher sensitivity, or are seeking a gentler way to support relaxation, stress reduction, and nervous system calming during or after treatment.

For clients experiencing fatigue, nausea, pain, or active treatment side effects, shorter or more focused sessions may be recommended and adjusted during your consultation.

If you are unsure what to book, begin with a consultation or intake discussion. Your therapist will help determine the safest and most appropriate session length and approach based on your medical history, treatment phase, and current symptoms.

We do not want to waste your time or your money. Your care plan will always be guided by your comfort, treatment stage, and overall wellness goals.

If you are a Cape Wellness Collaborative client, please call our office directly to schedule your session.
We are honored to support you through every stage of your care journey.

Enhancements (used when appropriate, no additional charge)
  • Essential oils used very gently for grounding, emotional support, and relaxation when appropriate and tolerated
  • Hot stones used only when fully appropriate and client is comfortable with heat application
  • Kinesiotaping used when appropriate for comfort and support during treatment phases
