Stress & Burnout Massage Therapy

Chronic stress and burnout can affect both the body and mind, often showing up as:
  • constant fatigue or low energy
  • difficulty sleeping or staying asleep
  • anxiety or feeling “on edge”
  • headaches or tension in the head and neck
  • tight shoulders, jaw, and upper back
  • difficulty focusing or feeling mentally overwhelmed
  • irritability or emotional exhaustion

At Oasis Massage, we use customized massage therapy to help calm the nervous system, reduce physical tension, and support your body’s ability to rest and recover.

What Is Stress & Burnout?
Stress is the body’s natural response to pressure. When it becomes chronic or prolonged, it can shift into burnout,  which is a state of physical and emotional exhaustion. Burnout often develops gradually and may be linked to:
  • work demands
  • caregiving responsibilities
  • lack of rest or recovery time
  • emotional strain
  • chronic pain or health concerns
  • overstimulation or mental overload

When the nervous system stays in a prolonged “fight or flight” state, muscles often remain tense and recovery becomes harder over time.

How Stress Affects the Body
Stress and burnout can create widespread tension patterns, especially in:
  • neck and shoulders
  • jaw and face
  • scalp and temples
  • upper and lower back
  • hips and glutes
  • chest and breathing muscles

Many clients are surprised to learn that emotional stress often shows up as physical pain or tightness in the body.

How Massage May Help Stress & Burnout
Massage therapy may help:
  • calm the nervous system
  • reduce muscle tension
  • improve sleep quality
  • decrease headaches and jaw clenching
  • improve circulation
  • support emotional regulation
  • promote deep relaxation
  • restore a sense of balance and grounding

Treatment is always adjusted to your comfort level and current stress load.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session is designed to support nervous system down regulation and full body relaxation.
Treatment may include work on:
  • neck and shoulders
  • back and spine
  • scalp and head
  • jaw and face if appropriate
  • hips and legs
  • chest and breathing muscles

Pressure is customized based on your preferences and may range from light calming touch to firmer therapeutic work depending on your body’s needs.

Therapeutic work on deeper muscle layers may be used when appropriate to address long held tension patterns, always within your comfort level.

Optional Enhancements (No Additional Charge)
To further support relaxation, your session may include optional enhancements at no extra cost:

Aromatherapy (Essential Oils)
Essential oils may be used to support relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional calm. Options are selected based on your preferences and sensitivity.

Hot Stone Therapy
Warm stones may be incorporated into your session to help:
  • relax tight muscles
  • improve circulation
  • deepen relaxation
  • support nervous system calming

These enhancements are always optional and adjusted to your comfort level.

Why Choose Oasis Massage
We focus on the whole body experience of stress, not just isolated tight muscles.
We assess:
  • stress patterns in the body
  • breathing and posture
  • muscle tension distribution
  • nervous system load
  • areas of chronic holding or guarding

This allows us to create a treatment that supports both physical and emotional recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can massage help burnout?
Massage does not eliminate life stressors, but many clients experience improved sleep, reduced tension, and a greater sense of calm and recovery.

  • How often should I come in?
Clients experiencing high stress or burnout often benefit from regular sessions, such as weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on lifestyle and needs.

  • Will the session be deep tissue?
Not necessarily. Pressure is fully customized. Some clients benefit more from slower, lighter relaxation work, while others prefer deeper tension release.

  • Can I request no talking during my session?
Yes. Many clients prefer quiet sessions to fully relax and reset the nervous system.

What to Book
Book either a 60-minute Full Body Massage or a 90-minute Full Body Massage, depending on your level of stress, fatigue, and how much time your body needs to unwind.

A 60-minute session is ideal for focused stress relief and addressing key tension areas such as the neck, shoulders, back, and jaw.

A 90-minute session is recommended for deeper burnout, chronic stress, or when you feel physically and mentally depleted. This allows more time for a slower pace, full-body nervous system reset, and deeper relaxation work.

Aromatherapy (essential oils) and hot stone therapy may be added to your session at no additional charge when appropriate and requested.

We do not want to waste your time or your money. Your therapist will help guide pressure, pacing, and techniques based on your stress level and comfort.

If stress and burnout are affecting your daily life, Oasis Massage can help support your recovery, relaxation, and nervous system reset.
