Closed on Sunday & Monday
As of November 1st, we will be closed on Sunday and Monday for the winter. We will re-visit this schedule change towards the spring. By adding availability on Saturdays, we will still provide the same number of massages each week. In 2015, Pallas wrote a blog on dual relationships in massage. She discusses a few different areas to be aware of to ensure personal and professional boundaries get respected from all parties. One thing that she didn't take into account is how much access being friends on social media gives us into our client's lives. Due to our screening process, this becomes an issue when a client cancels last minute due to feeling sick, then posts photos of themselves enjoying a social gathering. We don't mean to be invasive. Sometimes a client's activity pops up on our newsfeed while we scroll through. However infrequent, these instances show us how much respect some clients have for us and our time. Thankfully, this has only come up a few times since we reopened in June 2020. To maintain an ethical business relationship with our clients, we will no longer accept friend requests from clients and existing clients will be removed from individual staff's social media friend lists. This will better protect both client's privacy and ours. Client are encouraged to follow our business page on social media for updates on last minute availability, continuing education, new products, current promotions, and other news. We Are Hiring! Unfortunately for us, Mary received a job opportunity she couldn't refuse. We now have a front desk/administrative position, as well as a massage therapist position, available. As we begin the hiring process again, we would like to extend our appreciation to our loyal clients for their patience while we look for the right person for our team. It took us over sixty interviews to find Mary; our next hire will be just as carefully considered. We hope to have a new team member in place by January. Check our website for information about employment opportunities at Oasis Massage.

10/1/2021 0 Comments What's New This Fall?! Cold & Flu SeasonIt's that time of year again. According to Harvard.Health.Edu, the average cold lasts 3-7 days and the average flu lasts 5-7 days. Mild cases of Covid19 can last 14 days. All three viruses are contagious, with varying degrees of severity, and symptoms overlap. We don't want to spread or catch any of them.
If you develop symptoms, please let us know so we can reschedule your appointment; we waive any cancellation fees if you reschedule due to not feeling well. However, if you show up sick or with symptoms, you will be charged for 100% of your scheduled appointment fee - without receiving a massage. Our policy of refusing to work on symptomatic clients pre-dates the coronavirus. This policy also applies to contagious skin conditions such as poison ivy, shingles, MRSA, and athlete's foot. Basically, if you have something contagious that we can catch or spread to someone else, please reschedule. If any of our staff develops symptoms, they will have their appointments rescheduled. We will try to switch clients to a different massage therapist the same day, whenever possible. If staff symptoms are present after the 7th day, they will need a doctor's note or a negative Covid19 test to return to work. Flu Vaccines If you get an annual flu vaccine, the muscle will be sore at the injection site and you may develop symptoms. For your own comfort, we recommend scheduling your massage at least 24-48 hours after receiving the flu vaccine. Seaside Festival & Yarmouth Traffic We expect traffic along Route 28 in Yarmouth to be backed up during Columbus Day weekend (Friday October 8th -Sunday October 10th), especially during Saturday's road race beginning at 9am. Any clients scheduled during those times, please give yourself enough time to get through festival traffic or plan an alternate route. Appointment Availability & Cancellation List With seasonal residents heading back to their winter homes, our appointment calendar has a little more flexibility. We are currently booking 2-3 weeks ahead on weekdays; Saturdays are currently booked 8 weeks ahead. We will continue to maintain a cancellation list to fill any last minute openings. We also post last minute openings on Facebook after offering them to our cancellation list. Please call the office to book a last minute appointment or to be added to our cancellation list. As a reminder, online booking closes 48 hours in advance for all appointments. |
