Frequently Asked Questions
What type of massage should I book?
We don't expect clients to know all of our industry's terminology so we organize our services by goal, not modality or technique. This approach gives our practitioners a lot of flexibility within the treatment room to customize sessions and provide the best results possible. If you don't like a technique used during your session, inform your practitioner and they will modify the session to your comfort within their skillset and scope of practice.
For those interested, each service goal has descriptions of the integrated modalities.

- If your goal is to relax, book a full body massage under Relaxation/Maintenance.
- If you have a problem area or specific issue that you want addressed, book a session under Pain Management for the appropriate number of target areas.
- If you want to improve mobility, flexibility or performance in a sport, book a sports massage, a personal training session (or a combination of the two!) under Fitness.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
During the intake process, the practitioner will ask if there are any areas you want focused on or avoided. If you don't like an area worked on, you do not need to justify it beyond informing your practitioner. A typical full-body session includes work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, shoulders, glutes, and upper chest (pectoral muscles). We work on the glutes over the sheet using compression and kneading techniques. We work on the abdomen over the sheet or by using a towel to cover the breasts while the abdomen is exposed.
Fitness and pain management sessions treat target areas only, not a full body massage.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. It is very important that you complete the intake forms honestly and inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Certain medical conditions require approval from your doctor prior to receiving services.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches & pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. It is recommended that you drink plenty of water following your massage.

Do I have to get completely undressed?
It is entirely up to you what you want to wear. Full body massages are generally performed with the client unclothed, target area sessions with the client partially unclothed, and sports massage or chair massages with the client fully clothed. You should only undress to your level of comfort. If you undress, you will be properly draped during the entire session.
Will the practitioner be present when I get undressed?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet & blanket.
Will I be covered during the massage?
If you choose to get undressed for your session, you will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm & comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. If you remain fully clothed, draping will not be used.
