Employee Spotlight : Ashley

I want to take this opportunity to brag about my staff. Ashley has kept herself busy working with a non-profit organization trying to save sea turtles as well as diving headfirst into several continuing education classes. Our current pandemic means change is inevitable. With Ashley powering through CEs like this, the changes mean improvements on overall service quality & efficacy of treatments.

Here is what she has gotten done in the last two months:
  1. Insurance Reimbursement and Massage Therapy (Completed/3.0 CE credits)
Explore how to work with insurers and other healthcare payors on reimbursements. Understand the entire process including steps to begin, organizations involved, and managing denials. Determine if third-party billing is right for you.
  2. Cancer and Massage Therapy: Essential Contraindications Part I (Completed/2.5 CE credits)
For people with cancer and cancer histories, massage therapy can be a powerful intervention. Skilled, structured touch has the potential to reduce isolation, relieve symptoms, and help people feel cared for, whole and empowered.
Review old assumptions about cancer and massage therapy, and essential contraindications for massage for common cancer presentations. Take a detailed look at current thought on when, where, why and how massage therapy is contraindicated.
  3. Cancer and Massage Therapy: Treatments Part II (Completed/3.0 CE credits)
The effects of cancer treatment often impact patients more than the effects of cancer itself, but massage can be a powerful intervention and support. Skilled touch may help relieve symptoms and side effects as people navigate some of the strongest treatment in conventional medicine.
Explore the effects of principal cancer treatments (surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy) and the massage therapy contraindications for each.
  4. Massage and Medications—When is Therapy Dangerous? (Completed/3.5 CE credits)
Many medications have side effects that cause physiologic changes which require altering massage to avoid causing harm. Learn guidelines on how to minimize the risks that can occur with massage and medications. Explore medical side effects that can be mistaken for common ailments, resulting in inappropriate treatment plans. In addition, understand major drug side effects, and groups of medications that require special attention.
  5. Sports Massage: The Science of Athletics (Enrolled/4.0 CE credits)
Gain an understanding of sports science and how it will help you serve athletes. Learn how to perform informative intake interviews, answer questions, refer the athlete as needed, and use guidelines in conversations with athletes.
  6. Sports Massage: Injury + Recovery (Enrolled/5.0 CE credits)
Take an in-depth look at where injuries occur, how athlete tissues are affected and how they heal. Break down injuries by the type of tissue, as well as common injuries by area. Closely examine the healing stages, as well as what massage techniques are appropriate for athletes’ schedules.
